Job Summary
Part-time tutors support student success through personalized approaches, helping students to understand course material, develop learning strategies, engage in critical thinking, and gain academic skills. Responsibilities include meeting with students individually or in small groups, participating in staff meetings, and maintaining detailed records. Certification through the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) training is expected within a year of employment.
Required Qualifications
- Thorough understanding of the subject(s) that they will tutor
- An Associate degree or above in the discipline or a related field from a regionally accredited institution
- A grade of B or above in each course the candidate intends to tutor
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- An interest in working with a diverse population of students
- Patience and a genuine desire to help others learn and succeed
