Subject Tutor - Learning Center (Bethlehem or Online)

Job Summary
Tutors support student success by utilizing a personalized approach to help each student gain a deeper understanding of course material, devise effective learning strategies, engage in critical thinking, and acquire additional academic skills to help reach educational goals. Responsibilities include meeting with students on an individual or small group basis, participating in staff meetings, engaging in ongoing professional development activities, and responding promptly to correspondence from Learning Center staff. Tutors will receive College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) training and are expected to obtain certification within one year of employment, while maintaining accurate records.
Required Qualifications
- Thorough understanding of the subject(s) that they will tutor
- An Associate degree or above in the discipline or a related field from a regionally accredited institution
- A grade of B or above in each course the candidate intends to tutor
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Interest in working with a diverse population of students
- Patience
- Genuine desire to help others learn and succeed
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience as a peer or professional tutor is a plus but not required
