Job Summary
Subject Matter Expert responsible for reconciliation processes in a global banking environment. Demonstrates proficiency in reconciliation activities across equities, bonds, derivatives, FX, and other traded instruments; mentors junior staff and provides targeted training; identifies and implements process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and internal controls. Handles a variety of tasks within a moderately complex environment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established standards; develops and refines intermediate operational skills to execute structured, routine tasks within a standardized workflow. Assists in internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations of reconciliation processes and outcomes. Liaises with accounting, trading, risk management, and other departments to ensure alignment and cooperation during reconciliation. Communicates reconciliation results effectively to stakeholders and follows up as needed. Minimum qualifications include a finance/accounting background, 5+ years in reconciliations or related roles in banking/finance, familiarity with reconciliation tools (Duco, Intellimatch), knowledge of SWIFT messaging (MX/MT), and proficiency with Microsoft O365. Strong analytical capabilities, data verification discipline, stakeholder management, and ability to operate under pressure are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in finance, accounting, or related field
- At least 5 years of experience in financial reconciliations, financial analysis, or related roles within banking/finance industries
- Hands-on experience with financial reconciliations and accounting practices
- Familiarity with financial instruments (equities, bonds, derivatives, foreign exchange) and related market conventions
- Experience with reconciliation tools (e.g., Duco Tool, Intellimatch)
- Knowledgeable in SWIFT messaging (MX or MT)
- Proficient in Microsoft O365
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
- Excellent written and oral communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Background in operations or back-office roles within investment banks or asset management (preferred)
- Experience participating in internal and external audits
- Ability to identify discrepancies, propose improvements, and drive efficiency
- Experience with process redesign or system upgrades (preferred)
- Ability to liaise with accounting, trading, and risk management teams to align reconciliation outcomes
