Job Summary

Subject Matter Expert II to support on-site incident response for civilian Government agencies and critical asset owners experiencing cyber attacks. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive hardware reverse engineering of OT and ICS devices, analyzing network-edge devices and embedded systems, performing deep-dive analysis of proprietary hardware, reverse engineering firmware and low-level software on embedded devices, identifying hardware backdoors and implants, collaborating with Nightwing research teams to leverage analytical capabilities, documenting methodologies and defensive countermeasures, developing standard operating procedures for hardware forensics workflows, training CSD analysts on hardware reverse engineering techniques, providing expert consultation on edge device security and vulnerabilities, supporting forensic investigations lacking EDR visibility, and contributing to research initiatives on emerging hardware threats. Required and preferred qualifications emphasize a bachelor's degree, extensive experience in hardware reverse engineering, OT/ICS knowledge, firmware analysis, and proficiency with relevant tools. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in hardware reverse engineering or embedded systems analysis
  • Deep expertise in OT/ICS hardware platforms and vulnerabilities
  • Strong programming and scripting skills (Python, C, Assembly)
  • Experience with firmware reverse engineering and analysis
  • Experience analyzing network-edge devices (routers, switches, firewalls, IoT devices)
  • Knowledge of hardware debugging interfaces (JTAG, SWD, UART)
  • Proficiency with reverse engineering tools (IDA Pro, Ghidra, Binary Ninja)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience working collaboratively in research-oriented environments
  • Understanding of exploitation techniques targeting embedded systems
