Job Summary
Provide comprehensive student health services in accordance with District policies and administrative guidelines, Operating Standards for Ohio Schools, and the provisions of State and Federal law. Administer first aid and emergency health treatment as needed. Work in conjunction with District staff to promote instructional services and support for special needs students in accordance with individualized education plans (IEPs), 504 plans, and/or other District-authorized accommodation plans. The role requires effective communication with students, families, and school personnel and the ability to present information clearly to individuals and groups. The nurse must maintain up-to-date knowledge of educational issues and health-related matters, and be able to plan ahead while remaining flexible to adapt to emergencies. Maintain professional interaction with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and the community; and perform other job functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Ohio School Nurse license
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
- Successful experience as a nurse
- Knowledge of Ohio School Law
- Proficiency in computer skills and knowledge of applications necessary to access timely and relevant information and be able to disseminate same
- Good health and good attendance record
- Additional qualifications as the Board of Education may require
