Job Summary
Perform Submerged Arc, Flux Core, and Carbon Arc Gouging on heavy steel components, fitting long and round seams on large fabricated assemblies. Read blueprints and weld symbols, prepare materials, and verify weld quality throughout the fabrication process while operating overhead cranes to move large assemblies. Maintain production schedules, inspect completed welds, and follow all safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements. This role offers hands-on training for candidates with strong Flux Core skills, providing a four-day work week in a stable manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with Flux Core (FCAW) and Carbon Arc Gouging
- Ability to safely operate an overhead crane
- Comfortable climbing ladders and working on large fabrications
- Strong work ethic, dependable attendance, and willingness to learn
- Ability to pass a Flux Core and Carbon Arc welding test
Desired Qualifications
- Submerged Arc Welding (Sub Arc/SAW) experience preferred; willing to train candidates with strong Flux Core experience
- Fit-up experience with round seams or heavy steel assemblies preferred
- Ability to produce high-quality welds
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and welding symbols
- Previous Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) experience is highly preferred
- Experience fitting pressure vessels, tanks, pipe, or other heavy fabricated assemblies is highly desirable
- Recent welding school graduates with strong Flux Core skills are encouraged to apply
- Experience welding pressure vessels, tanks, or heavy structural components is preferred
