Job Summary
Supervise students during study hall at the Juvenile Justice Center for incarcerated youth while enforcing rules and assisting with academic work. Provide support through the APEX e-learning platform in Math, English, Social Studies, and Science to foster a positive and structured learning environment. Apply restorative practices and trauma-informed teaching approaches to maintain a supportive atmosphere for diverse populations. Requires a valid Ohio Educational Aide Permit, familiarity with Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS), and the physical ability to perform restraints when needed. Full-time position with 194 days, starting August 2026, at $23.00-$27.00 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Ohio Educational Aide Permit/ESEA or Substitute license or willing to obtain
- Experience working in a school environment with at risk youth
- Ability to utilize restorative practices and trauma-informed teaching approaches
- Knowledge of effective behavior management strategies
- Experience working in an engaging and culturally responsive environment
- Proven ability to model a positive image in dress, behavior, language, and attitude
- Willingness and ability to work as a team member
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and facility
- Good organizational skills and detail-oriented
- Physically fit with the ability to perform restraints when needed
- History of good job attendance
- Must pass criminal background checks
- Free from communicable diseases
