Job Summary
Assist teachers with instructional, clerical, student management, and daily life activities for special education students in special education or general classrooms. Work shifts typically occur between 7:15am and 3:30pm during the school year, with exact times varying based on school needs. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED, strong tutorial skills, and knowledge of child guidance principles. The role requires independent task completion, community supervision, and participation in Special Education Department training. Preferred qualifications include two years of college experience, a two-year degree, or one year of school employment.
Required Qualifications

- Previous experience working with students with special needs

- Strong office, computer, and oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of child guidance principles and practices
- Knowledge of basic instructional methods and techniques
- Willingness to supervise students in community settings
- Willingness to participate in training provided by the Special Education Department
- Work within the hours of 7:15am and 3:30pm

Desired Qualifications
- Highly-qualified status (determined by meeting one of the following criteria)
- Two years of college experience from an accredited college
- A two-year college degree from an accredited college
- Passed the Para-Pro Assessment
- One year or 1,000 hours of previous employment in a school or working with children
- Passed annual school-level evaluations
- Completed 48 credit hours of college level classes from an accredited college
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credentials
