Job Summary

Interface with program team members, technical writers, and engineering technicians to support business application development. Write clean, consistent, well-documented code and implement, test, and maintain code for internal customers. Ensure code meets end user requirements while collaborating with developers to integrate new projects with existing systems. Provide operational support for existing applications. Work 15-20 hours per week during semesters or up to 40 hours during summer. This role offers on-the-job training and mentoring through the Student Scholar Program, which includes monthly technical workshops and academic stipends.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a Utah State University student majoring in computer science, management information systems, or a related field
  • Must have at least one (1) year of school remaining
  • Must be able to work 15-20 hours per week during semesters and up to 40 hours per week during summer
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., or other U.S. person
  • Ability to work independently with mentoring and as part of a collaborative team
  • Must be reliable and responsible and have a strong work ethic

  • Applicants should demonstrate some proficiency and desire to improve the following skills: Technical skills in programming, designing, systems development, and testing
  • Applicants should demonstrate some proficiency and desire to improve the following skills: Introductory level knowledge of common software development processes (version control, peer reviews, documentation standards)
  • Applicants should demonstrate some proficiency and desire to improve the following skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • Applicants should demonstrate some proficiency and desire to improve the following skills: Ability to establish and maintain effective team relationships
