Job Summary
Student Ultrasonographer assists with ultrasound examinations under ARDMS supervision; performs patient assessments, explains procedures, operates ultrasound equipment and transducers, documents results, reviews images with supervising sonographer, and adheres to Beloit Health System policies. Requires CPR certification within three months of hire; second-year student in an accredited School of Medical Sonography; prepares exams for radiologist interpretation and discharge. Demonstrates ability to set up and operate equipment and review images prior to submission and discharge, maintaining patient records and ensuring appropriate exam adjustments as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Second year student in an accredited School of Medical Sonography and has passed physics board exam
- Must be CPR certified within three months of hire
- Requires ability to work independently and to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply proper procedure to Beloit Memorial Hospital policies
- Must adhere to established hospital and medical imaging department policies
- Maintain ethical conduct and keep confidential personal and medical information about patients
- Receives and follows oral and written instructions from physicians under supervision of ARDMS sonographer
