Student Transportation Driver

Job Summary
Drive school vans and transport students between pickup points and school or to various events, activities, and destinations. Perform all activities related to the operation of school vehicles, including conducting pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections, checking gas and fluids, and cleaning the van at the end of each shift. Supervise student passengers, assist disabled students, and adhere strictly to assigned routes and time schedules. Report mechanical malfunctions or unmanageable students to the Director of Facilities. Prepare trip logs and reports while maintaining valid California driver's license and five years of safe driving experience. This part-time, on-site role requires approximately 20 hours per week during the school year.
Required Qualifications
- Hold and maintain a Valid California Drivers License, with no serious violations
- Be a reliable person of good character who shall possess the qualifications and communication skills necessary to perform the duties of the position
- Have a minimum of five years previous safe driving experience
- Have sufficient mechanical aptitude to recognize minor problems and report these problems
- Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative
- Exhibit positive interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents and the community
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary
- Submit a cover letter, resume, and two professional references from current or former supervisors
- Provide official transcripts
- Provide a current negative TB test result or TB Risk Assessment Questionnaire
- Complete required training
- Successfully complete Livescan fingerprinting
- Obtain fingerprint clearance from the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
