Job Summary
Conduct safe, efficient student transportation by running assigned routes according to schedule sheets and obeying all traffic laws. Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, maintain discipline using the safe student management system, and administer emergency first aid as needed. Assist students and supervisors with ingress and egress, including evacuations, while keeping buses clean, fueled, and properly documented. Report all incidents immediately and adhere to district policies, regulations, and current defensive driving techniques. Maintain the highest degree of driving safety in varied weather and road conditions.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Arizona driver's license
- Satisfactory criminal background check
- Department of Public Safety certificate, or the ability to obtain
- Good communication and good human relations skills
- Successful driving record for the past five years
- Ability to work with various groups, teachers, administrators, and students
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Ability to pass the Arizona Department of Transportation physical and Federal drug and alcohol tests
- Knowledge of and adherence to all policies, regulations, and procedures
- Vision and hearing are adequate to exercise job responsibilities in a safe manner
- Employee must be able to complete a physical agility test that will be conducted by district transportation personnel
- Employee must be able to pick up 30 pounds from the ground to the back of the bus and drag up to 125 pounds 30 feet in 30 seconds
- Ability to pass a physical performance test in accordance with the Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Arizona Administrative Code
Desired Qualifications
- Van driving experience preferred
