Job Summary
The Student Support Specialist collaborates with students to help them become well-rounded, informed citizens who can live independent and self-sufficient lives, navigate the community, and access educational services. On-site, the role involves supporting students across multiple functional areas, delivering individual and group sessions to develop executive functioning, social skills, and independent living competencies, accompanying students to local activities, and producing progress notes and reports to the Social Skills Coordinator. The position requires coordination with a multidisciplinary team, a strong emphasis on communication, safety, and facilitating real-world practice in community settings, with a schedule including weekday afternoons/evenings and weekend shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in a related field is highly preferred.
- High School Diploma is required.
- At least two years of related experience and/or training is required.
- A strong special education background, particularly at the higher education level is preferred.
- Experience in the field of autism and/or learning differences is highly required.
- Proficient with computer software for office tasks and in learning new company computer software programs is required.
- An active Driver’s License is required.
