Job Summary
Milton Hershey School seeks married couples to serve as Full-time Flex Houseparents at the Hershey, PA campus, residing in on-site student homes (approximately 8–13 students per home). Responsibilities include supervising and mentoring students, managing household routines and schedules, administering medications, transporting and planning activities, leading daily devotions and Chapel attendance, budgeting and reporting, and transitioning from Flex Houseparents to Placed Houseparents living in the same student home. Schedule begins with nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off. Relocation assistance provided; total compensation per couple around $168,000 with comprehensive benefits. Requires high school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, ability to drive student vans, and university-level commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
