Job Summary
Two-person Full-time Flex Houseparents reside on campus at Milton Hershey School to supervise and support a group of approximately 8–13 students in their home. Responsibilities include daily supervision and mentorship, managing household routines and student schedules, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, overseeing budgeting and household reporting, and transitioning from nine days on / three days off to a placed houseparent role. The role requires a legally married couple for at least two years, both spouses age 27 or older, high school diploma or GED, a US driver’s license with the ability to become certified to drive student home vans, and adherence to campus policies (smoke-free, weapon-free, no alcohol). Relocation assistance and paid training are provided; compensation is approximately $180,000 total per couple, with $46,917 per person.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- This is a two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- High school diploma or GED required
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
