Job Summary
Full-time Flex Houseparents reside on campus at Milton Hershey School, supervising and mentoring a group of approximately 8–13 students in a family-like home. The role includes daily supervision, managing household routines and student schedules, administering medications, transporting students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, and overseeing budgeting and household reporting. The two-person, legally married couple initially covers nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off, with eventual transition to a Placed Houseparent living with the same group of students. Relocation assistance is provided, and benefits include comprehensive medical/dental/vision coverage, retirement options, paid time off, and housing/meals while on duty.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- For consideration, both spouses must complete individual employment applications
- Two-spouse requirement for the role
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
