Job Summary
Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of district-wide special education programs for grades PK-12, supervising and evaluating teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers. Assist in recruiting and onboarding new staff while reviewing IEPs and evaluation reports for accuracy and compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and ADA regulations. Act as the LEA representative at complex IEP and Section 504 meetings, mediating parent concerns, responding to formal complaints, and preparing for due process hearings. Provide ongoing coaching to instructional staff, design professional development on inclusive practices and behavior management, and maintain accurate student records for state and federal reporting. Serve as a liaison between administration, staff, and parents to communicate program goals and policy updates.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License
- Must pass criminal background check
- Demonstrate a sincere desire to aid all students
- High moral character
- Good attendance record
- At least 18 years of age
- Computer experience
- Willingness to utilize technology
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education
- Ability to interpret policy, rules and regulations
- Ability to compile and prepare required reports
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to build rapport
- Ability to lift a moderate amount of weight to fifty (50) pounds
- Ability to transport self and related materials to work site
- Ability to supervise students effectively
- Knowledge of Board policies and procedures
- Knowledge of appropriate school procedures
- Knowledge of requirements of the Ohio Department of Education
- Knowledge of effective management procedures
- Knowledge of required state, local, and federal reports
- Knowledge of public relations
- Knowledge of effective conferencing techniques
- Knowledge of district and community resources
- Remain free of any alcohol or non-prescriptive controlled substance use in the workplace
