Job Summary
Student Services Manager in the Geography department leads and coordinates program planning, admissions evaluation, outreach and recruitment, and academic advising for undergraduate and graduate programs. Responsibilities include strategic leadership for enrolment management, scheduling, course approvals, budgeting, staff supervision, and liaison with students, faculty, alumni, and external partners to ensure coordinated service delivery. The role emphasizes student success, retention, and career development, with duties spanning scheduling, policy interpretation, program materials, promotion, reporting, and collaboration across committees. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills, plus ability to travel and work with a diverse student population, are required.
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline
- Minimum of one to two years of related experience
- Willingness to respect diverse perspectives
- Demonstrates a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to travel outside UBC and work occasional evenings or weekends
- Experience with advising or counselling and administration (UBC experience preferred)
- Knowledge of university policies and procedures (admissions, graduate and undergraduate programs)
- Supervisory experience
