Job Summary
The Student Professional Nurse (SPN) role supports nursing care under an RN, following a preceptor in the Methodist Advancement into Professional Practice program to build clinical competency and confidence as a new graduate. Responsibilities include delivering patient care within unit scope for age-specific populations, effective communication with patients, families, and the health-care team, and practicing patient-family centered care. The position emphasizes teamwork, adherence to safety standards, and professional growth through participation in conferences, discharge planning, and performance-improvement activities. Requires enrollment in a nursing program with clinical rotation experience and a minimum 3.2 GPA, High School diploma or equivalent, and BLS certification.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED, homeschool equivalency, etc.)
- Enrolled in a school of nursing program maintaining a minimum 3.2 GPA
- Successfully completed at least one clinical rotation
- BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA)
