Job Summary
Under direct Registered Nurse supervision, perform procedures, collect demographic data, and assist with personal care including bathing, oral hygiene, and shaving. Manage intake and output, perform urinary catheter removal, collect specimens, empty drainage tubes, and assist with ostomy care. Remove peripheral IVs as directed, deliver meals, feed patients, and transport individuals to designated areas. Perform patient turning, positioning, and postmortem care while maintaining room cleanliness and instrument disinfection. Provide age-appropriate care to patients 13 and older, apply simple wound dressings, and restock unit supplies. Requires current nursing school enrollment, completion of fundamentals of nursing, and BLS certification.
Required Qualifications
- Current enrollment in an accredited nursing school
- Proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing
- Certification as a nursing assistant (based on state requirements)
- Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and procedures
- Knowledge of aseptic practices
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to maintain effective working relations with others including patients, families, physicians and other hospital associates
- BLS certification
