Job Summary
Student Nurse Extern provides patient care under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, assisting nursing staff with unit-based duties, following established policies, and supporting care plan implementation. Responsibilities include taking and recording vital signs, preparing and transporting specimens, assisting with activities of daily living, wound care and dressings, contributing to nursing care plans, documenting patient status and outcomes, and ensuring patient safety. Requires following isolation precautions, maintaining confidentiality, and collaborating with the healthcare team. Must be enrolled in a nursing program, possess CPR/BLS certification, and have relevant clinical exposure as part of the program.
Required Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in an approved nursing program (diploma, associate or bachelor degree in nursing)
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- At least 1 year experience in patient care or equivalent on-the-job training as obtained through participation in an approved nursing program
- Must provide proof of continuous enrollment in an approved nursing program to maintain employment
