Job Summary
Mentor LCSD high school students by providing relational support, encouragement, and guidance to help prospective students transition to college. Responsibilities include engaging mentored students through personal narrative, participating in high school outreach and classroom visits, fostering community and belonging, supporting academic readiness and navigation of resources, identifying situations needing escalation to College staff, and participating in ongoing mentoring skills training. The role emphasizes effective communication, empathy, boundary-setting, confidentiality (FERPA training required), and contributing to college-wide initiatives (Welcome Week, Cares, Commencement). The position requires presence at multiple OCCC locations, travel between sites, and may include evening and weekend work. Pay is $17.11 per hour with a part-time schedule (4 hours per week during the academic year and a one-week period in August).
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled student at Oregon Coast Community College
- Minimum 2.0 cumulative OCCC GPA
