Student Health Services Staff Physician and Head Team Physician (on-site)

Job Summary
Conduct clinical and educational services at the Student Health Center, administering direct medical care for students using written protocols. Provide acute and continuity care to student athletes on and off the field, coordinating with athletic trainers and members of the sports medicine program while overseeing athletic training staff. Lead intercollegiate athletics, club sports, and NCAA policy compliance, developing clinical services to enhance team health. Work independently under general supervision in collaboration with the Medical Director to ensure efficient patient flow and teamwork. Maintain current knowledge of applicable rules and standards for the Conference and National Collegiate Athletic Association.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree
- Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the California Medical Board
- Completion of ACGME-accredited residency training program
- Completion of ACGME-accredited sports medicine fellowship program
- 3 years of experience practicing in primary care sports medicine with most clinical activity directly in sports medicine
- Current DEA Certificate
- Board Certification in sports medicine
- Board Certification in a primary care specialty (eg: Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics)
- Advanced clinical skills
- Ability to communicate with both patients and clinical staff members
- Effective diagnostic and decision-making skills in more difficult cases
- Ability to diagnose patient condition and make associated treatment recommendations
- Ability to work in a collaborative manner
- Experienced with electronic/medical records systems
- Must be computer literate
- Experience supervising other health care professionals
- Experience in administration and policy development
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in sports medicine leadership, preferably including a university athletics department
- Experience as team physician for either college, high school, Paralympic, Olympic, or professional teams
- Experience working within a college athletics program as a medical provider
- Experience in college student health
- Experience with sports ultrasound
