Job Summary
Financial Aid Counselor on-site in Buffalo, NY within the Student Financial Services team. Provides high-touch, student-centered guidance to undergraduate and graduate students navigating federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid programs; supports aid processing accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance; advises students and families on eligibility, FAFSA and TAP completion, verification, award packaging, loan counseling, and repayment options; interprets complex federal/state regulations (Title IV, NYS TAP) for students; maintains accurate student records and collaborates with admissions, registrar, student accounts, and enrollment management to support enrollment and student success. The role is 75% technical assignments and 25% student-facing, with occasional evening and weekend hours for recruitment and student services. On-site requirement; Buffalo, NY location.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Strong knowledge of federal and state financial aid programs, FAFSA processing, NYS TAP, and Title IV regulations
- Ability to manage high-volume processing responsibilities while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and compliance
- Strong interpersonal, counseling, and customer-service skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse populations
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn evolving systems and regulatory requirements
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
