Job Summary

As Student Experience Manager, you will lead the Student Experience Professional Service function, line-manage the Education and Student Experience team, and oversee student voice activities (NSS, TellUs, student-staff committees). You will ensure compliance with statutory/regulatory requirements, support student progression and attendance, manage academic complaints/appeals, and drive inclusive practices aligned with the School’s strategic Action Plan. The role requires strong leadership, collaborative working across the university, and the development and delivery of initiatives that enhance the student journey from induction to graduation, including safeguarding, fitness to practice, and participation plans. The post involves coordinating events, communications, and student-facing materials while supporting equity and participation objectives and reporting to the School Director of Education and School Manager.

Required Qualifications

  • Educated to A Level standard with GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent experience)
  • Previous experience in a professional / managerial role, ideally within a Higher Education or similarly complex environment
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal and the ability to negotiate with colleagues of all levels to deliver effective outcomes
  • A high level of IT literacy, including extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google applications, and the ability to learn new software
  • Experience of leading, reviewing, managing, and motivating a team to achieve high quality service delivery and support colleagues to achieve to their full potential
  • Experience of process and policy design and improvement, e.g. developing and implementing service improvements
  • Highly motivated and able to work and make decisions autonomously combined with an understanding of when to refer more complex issues to senior colleagues
  • Ensure tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner prioritising effectively to plan for conflicting deadlines, whilst managing unscheduled tasks as required
  • Excellent customer service and networking skills demonstrating a flexible and collegiate approach to working, with high levels of discretion and confidentiality as required
  • Ability to work collaboratively to achieve strategic aims of the School and University using creative approaches to problem solving, with an appreciation of longer-term implications of actions taken
