Job Summary
Student Estimator co-op/internship based in Edmonton, Alberta. Responsibilities include reviewing project plans and specifications, performing take-offs and developing material and labor estimates, utilizing estimating software to prepare detailed cost estimates (labor, materials, subcontractor quotes, and other project costs), assisting in bid proposal preparation, collaborating with senior estimators and project managers to review bids, maintaining cost databases and historical data, tracking bids and market trends, and participating in departmental/project meetings. The role emphasizes staying current with industry trends and best practices in estimating, and offers mentorship from a supervisor and technical mentor.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a relevant degree program such as Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent program
- Will complete at least one more semester of education following the internship
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Ability to lead and operate within an environment where change happens frequently
- Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships

- Sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals

- Residency, or a valid work permit which would allow you to work for Bird Construction or one of our wholly owned subsidiaries
