Job Summary
Provide one-on-one classroom instruction and worksite services including career explorations, job readiness, mentoring, and vocational exploration for students at Valparaiso High School and SELF School. Develop and maintain a caseload of students with Individual Education Plans (IEP) while creating consistent schedules to meet individual goals and program objectives. Advocate for services, monitor student progress, and document daily activities and struggles. Establish assessment sites with local businesses and maintain necessary data reports for Indiana Vocational Rehabilitation Pre-ETS. Attend department meetings and build productive relationships with teachers, employers, parents, and co-workers to support student self-advocacy and transition services.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
- Flexibility to ever changing schedules and shifts
- Strong ability to problem solve
- Must be able to work independently
- Handle confidential matters with discretion
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
- Prolonged sitting
- Prolonged standing
Desired Qualifications
- 1-3 years' experience in related field preferred
- Experience with developmentally disabled population preferred
- Education or school corporation experience preferred
