Student Athlete Injury Claims Coordinator

Job Summary
Oversee administration of athletic injury insurance claims, coordinating the full lifecycle from intake to closure; serve as the primary liaison for student athletes, athletic trainers, university departments, medical providers, and insurers to ensure timely reporting, accurate processing, and effective resolution of claims; advocate on behalf of student athletes with insurers and medical providers, navigate coordination of benefits between personal medical insurance and university athletic coverage, and maintain HIPAA-compliant records. Collaborate with Campus Health Services, Legal, Athletics, and other university departments to analyze claims trends, mitigate risk, and identify opportunities to reduce frequency and cost while upholding university, NAIA, and NCAA regulations. Maintain confidential records, ensure proper releases and authorizations, and uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethical decision-making in all claims-related activities. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, risk management, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in insurance claims management, healthcare billing, or related field
- Knowledge of medical insurance processes, including coordination of benefits and secondary coverage (claims stacking)
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy, urgency, and attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Customer-service orientation with a focus on supporting student athletes
