Job Summary
Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes while operating multiple kitchen stations during service. Maintain consistent food quality, portion control, and a clean workspace, ensuring all food handling complies with safety guidelines. Support menu preparation through chopping and marinating, monitor inventory levels, and assist with rare weekend events. Track time worked accurately and communicate restocking needs to supervisors. Weekend availability and flexible weekday hours are required, with a schedule from August 31, 2026, to August 27, 2027. Students must reside in Washington and cannot work during scheduled class times. DigiPen covers Food Handler's permit costs, provides a uniform, and offers one meal per shift.
Required Qualifications
- Current student at DigiPen Institute of Technology
- Reside within the State of Washington
- Weekend availability
- Flexible weekday hours
- Demonstrated ability to cook multiple menu items simultaneously in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques (grilling, sautéing, roasting, frying, etc.)
- Ability to follow and execute standardized recipes accurately
- At least 1 year of professional cooking experience
- Strong time management and ability to prioritize tasks during busy service periods
- Ability to maintain a clean, organized workstation and follow kitchen systems
- Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with other kitchen staff
- Willingness to support team members and assist where needed during service
- Punctual, dependable, and able to work scheduled shifts consistently
- Ability to follow instructions and maintain professional conduct in a kitchen environment
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs when needed
- Comfortable working in environments with heat, sharp tools, and kitchen equipment
- Good Academic Standing – not on Academic Warning as defined in DigiPen Course Catalog
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
