Job Summary
Provide student support in standard mathematics courses through drop-in tutoring sessions during specified operating hours in ET 003 at Purdue University in Indianapolis. Present practice exercises and facilitate individual or small group discussions of solution options while examining student work for areas of improvement. Identify appropriate study resources and practices to present to students, maintaining a personal understanding of course concepts including College Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus I, and Calculus II. Engage in ongoing professional development through semester trainings, supervisor check-ins, and team meetings. Commit to the position for at least one full semester with availability for evening trainings.
Required Qualifications
- Purdue student studying in Indianapolis
- Minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.0
- Achieved an A- or higher in the Purdue MA 261 Multivariable Calculus course
- A fluent understanding of College Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus I, and Calculus II concepts and material
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Be willing to commit to the position for at least one full semester
- Be available for team trainings throughout the year (some will include evening times)
- Be in good academic and judicial standing at Purdue University
- Possess a positive attitude and passion for helping others
