Job Summary

Lead structural and survivability engineering activities for armored hull design, ballistic protection systems, and blast mitigation. Develop designs using finite element analysis and apply standards like STANAG 4569 and MIL-STD-810 to translate metrics into testable criteria. Plan and execute full-scale survivability testing, including ballistic and blast evaluations, while collaborating with systems engineering and materials teams. Support root-cause investigations and prepare technical reports for Army verification. Requires U.S. citizenship, active security clearance, and a Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field. Hanwha Defense USA is seeking this individual contributor for an Army ground vehicle program.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Materials Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • Significant experience in structural or survivability engineering for armored vehicles, military platforms, or protective systems
  • Strong proficiency in structural analysis tools, finite element modeling, and survivability assessment methodologies
  • Familiarity with survivability standards including STANAG 4569, AEP‐55, MIL‐STD‐810, and related Army guidelines
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, armor specifications, structural data, and experimental test results
  • Experience planning or executing ballistic, blast, underbody, or structural testing activities
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional engineering teams
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Active security clearance

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with combat vehicles, tactical vehicle structures, or armored system integration
  • Background in materials science related to armor systems (metals, composites, ceramics, hybrid solutions)
  • Familiarity with survivability modeling environments, shock physics tools, or high‐strain‐rate material test methods
  • Understanding of Army acquisition processes, technical readiness evaluations, and survivability certification practices
