Job Summary
Prep, layout, tack, weld, finish, and repair complex fabrications to work packages in accordance with product specifications and production schedules under supervision. Read and interpret work packages, drawings and blueprints; perform welding using GMAW and FCAW processes (GTAW a plus); position and secure parts using measuring tools; operate overhead cranes; set up and operate fabrication machinery (punching, shearing, cutting, drilling); inspect own work for conformance and report malfunctions; travel to other buildings within the Navy yard and possibly other job sites; anticipate various shifts, overtime and weekends; must have 5+ years in fabrication, strong knowledge of welding symbols, and ability to work in a team environment with safety focus.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Relate trade school experience in fabrication/welding
- 5+ years experience in fabrication industry
- Experience with GMAW (Pulse and Spray) and FCAW welding processes; GTAW a plus
- Ability to weld to AWS D1.1 in 3-G and 4-G positions
- Past welding certification history is a plus
- US Citizenship required
- Able to read and decipher work packages, diagrams, blueprints and printed instructional material
- Safety training (OSHA 10) and ability to work in a team environment
