Job Summary
Welds assembly plating and fabricated components according to client specifications, in positions 2G, 3G, and 4G, using Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) processes with carbon electrodes. Performs prep work such as cleaning and pre-heating, inspects weld sizes of weld beads, and cleans the weld area while removing scrap. Performs related tasks as assigned. Requires minimum three years of journeyman level experience, ability to qualify in FCAW 71T-1 and 811N3 in three positions, reads and comprehends safety instructions in English, and can hear warning signals. Knowledge of shipbuilding processes and metal welding characteristics preferred; must be able to work all shifts and at heights.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum three years of journeyman level experience
- Must be able to qualify in two gas shielded FCAW welding processes 71T-1 and 811N3 in three positions
- Must comprehend written and verbal instructions in English
- Must be able to hear warning signals, read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations and warnings
- All plates will be assessed using the bend and x-ray method
- Must be able to work all shifts and at heights
- Frequent carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, manual dexterity, reaching, seeing, hearing
- Construction or manufacturing background preferred
- Must show at least two years of continuous, stable and verifiable employment
- Knowledge of shipbuilding processes and procedures preferred
- Must have at least 3 years previous welding experience
