Job Summary
Senior Structural/Tunneling Engineer in NYC responsible for leading design and analysis of underground structures (tunnels, caverns, underground transit systems). Develop design budgets and schedules; coordinate with engineers, architects, and construction professionals to meet specifications; manage site investigations and surveys; prepare and review construction plans and specifications; supervise junior and mid-level engineers and technicians; perform advanced structural calculations to assess load capacities, stability, and safety factors; utilize CAD and related tools; conduct QA/QC on projects; prepare project reports and communicate with clients and stakeholders; mentor staff; ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (FHWA, AREMA, ACI 318, AISC, ASCE 7); possess PE license, 10-15 years of experience in underground structural projects, and proficiency with industry-standard software; opportunity for professional growth through STV University and cross-disciplinary exposure.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum B.S. Degree in Civil engineering
- Master’s degree in civil or structural engineering is preferred
- PE license required
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in structural engineering with a focus on underground structures
- Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles related to underground structures
- Experience with advanced engineering software such as SAP2000, ETABS, GT STRUDL, LARSA, CSiBridge, RISA, MIDAS and MATHCAD
- Familiarity with FHWA, AREMA, ACI 318, AISC, and ASCE 7 codes and standards
- Experience in project management including budgets, schedules, and resources
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to lead a team
- Good communication and collaboration skills with clients and stakeholders
- Experience supervising junior and mid-level engineers and technicians
- Ability to prepare and review project reports and client communications
- CAD and design-drawing/modeling proficiency
- Knowledge of QA/QC processes and construction-monitoring
