Job Summary
Structural Steel Material Handler responsible for safely moving structural steel products within a manufacturing facility. Operates forklifts to load/unload and transport steel materials, and overhead cranes to lift and position heavy beams, plates, and assemblies. Works with welders, fitters, and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow and production schedules. Reads work orders and basic blueprints to understand material handling requirements; conducts pre-operational checks on equipment; maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with safety policies. May assist in fabrication-related tasks such as cutting, grinding, fitting, and other general labor. Emphasizes safety, accuracy, and teamwork to meet production targets.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience operating forklifts in an industrial or manufacturing setting
- Demonstrable experience operating overhead cranes in a manufacturing or heavy fabrication environment
- Experience working in a structural steel or heavy metal manufacturing environment is highly preferred
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in a non-climate-controlled environment
