Job Summary

Layout and fit fabricated steel assemblies, beams, columns, and trusses per shop drawings while verifying material sizes and reporting defects. Perform welding duties including FCAW Fillet, CAC-G, and 1F/2G procedures as requested by the supervisor. Critically review fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and blueprints to ensure accuracy. Operate torches, forklifts, overhead cranes, and measuring tools to maintain a safe, clean, and orderly environment. Work primarily outside in loud noise levels, lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for long periods. This role requires 2+ years of fitting experience on large fabricated assemblies and proficiency in reading layouts and welding procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years full time structural Fitting experience on large fabricated assemblies
  • Proficiency in the following welding procedures - FCAW Fillet Weld, CAC-G, FCAW 1F, FCAW 1G, FCAW 2F, FCAW 2G
  • Fitting or layout experience with large assemblies
  • Intermediate math and measurement skills (e.g., addition, subtraction, diameters), reading and comprehension
  • Understanding of safe work procedures for welding and fabrication shop work
  • Ability to read and understand welding symbols in shop drawings
  • Ability to understand and read layouts, blueprints, diagrams, work orders, and welding procedures
  • Ability to set up and adjust welding machine to stay within parameters of welding procedures
  • Ability to understand operations of welding equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time

Desired Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Open to 2nd / Swing Shift (2:00pm start) preferred
  • Prefer applicable craft training by an approved construction trade association (e.g., ACI, BC, R.O.C.) welding programs
  • Working knowledge of computers, smart phones, and tablets
