Job Summary
Fabricate steel main members including beams, columns, tube sockets, and roof opening frames by reading structural drawings and identifying components from the BOM. Perform MIG welding with metal core wire, cut and detail components using a torch, and layout holes and cutouts to specified tolerances. Pass tack and fillet weld tests while planning work to keep projects on schedule. Stand and walk throughout an eight-hour day, consistently lifting 80 lbs or turning over beams and columns. Demonstrate strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate parts and weld guns.
Required Qualifications
- Proficient with cutting torch to cope and detail components for proper fit-up.
- Knowledge of a variety of structural members (beams, channel, angle).
- The layout of holes, cutouts, notches, etc. to specified dimensions and within noted tolerances.
- Must be able to identify and gather components needed from BOM.
- Ability to plan work and keep projects on schedule.
- Must be able to pass a basic tack test and fillet weld test.
- Must be able to walk and stand throughout an eight-hour day.
- Must be able to consistently lift 80 lbs. or turn over a beam or column.
- Must be able to repetitively use arms, hands, and fingers in the manipulation of parts and a weld gun.
- Must demonstrate good hand/eye coordination.
- Must demonstrate good manual dexterity.
- Must be able to read, evaluate, and respond to product specifications and drawings, and perform normal math calculations easily.
- Must have strong general mechanical skills.
- Must be able to pass drug and criminal background screenings.
