Job Summary

Lead design efforts for low to moderate complexity projects by analyzing and designing structural systems using various building materials, creating detailed designs, specifications, and calculations to meet code and IMEG standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions, interact with clients to gather requirements, and build professional relationships. Manage project planning, budgeting, and scheduling while overseeing projects through bidding, design, and construction administration phases. Provide in-process design reviews, implement quality control processes, and mentor less experienced staff. Prioritize safety and adhere to ethical standards. Work on Southern California education and healthcare projects, including school modernization and hospital upgrades, contributing to sustainable design goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • 2 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in mechanics and materials, load paths, design techniques, design standards including steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and concepts involved in structural systems of buildings and other structures
  • Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
  • Proficiency of industry standard engineering software and tools including structural engineering design and analysis software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
  • Proficiency in the use of BIM software
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's Degree (MS) in Structural Engineering preferred
