Job Summary
Early-career Structural & Mechanical Engineer I to support design, analysis, and testing of mechanical, structural, and propulsion systems for spaceflight at Blue Origin. Responsibilities include participation in the full design cycle, integration with materials and processes, manufacturing and test of development and flight hardware, data reduction and analysis, and implementing design changes to improve reliability and reduce cost. Requires a BS in mechanical or aerospace engineering (or related field), internship/co-op experience or hands-on work, basic 3D CAD ( Creo/Pro/E ), basic strength of materials, basic structural analysis, and familiarity with FEA (ANSYS). Desirable: MS degree, experience with flight control actuators, deployable devices, hydraulic components, GD&T, machining, and test instrumentation. Strong teamwork, initiative, and ability to work in fast-paced aerospace environment. Timeline is rolling; primary locations include Seattle, Huntsville, Cape Canaveral, Denver, and Los Angeles. Required Qualifications
- BS Degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering (or other relevant engineering field)
- Internship/co-op and/or hands-on experience
- Basic proficiency in 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E preferred)
- Basic proficiency in strength and mechanics of materials
- Basic proficiency in structural analysis (Free-body diagrams, hand calculations)
- Basic understanding of Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS preferred)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs
- Desire for MS preferred in related field
