Job Summary

Interpret complex structural drawings to manually lay out cambered bridge girders, perform layout work using stringlines and tape measures, and fabricate hand-grind steel stiffeners to meet mill-to-bear tolerances. Ensure metal-to-metal contact and proper fit-up of structural components while performing manual cutting of heavy steel plates using an oxy-acetylene torch. Tack weld structural components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions using 1/8" 7018 electrodes, maintaining quality workmanship and adhering to all safety standards. First shift opportunity with pay rates of $25-$35/hour based on experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be able to read and interpret structural blueprints and drawings
  • Must have experience with structural steel layout and fitting
  • Must have experience grinding and fitting steel components to specification
  • Must have experience using oxy-acetylene cutting equipment
  • Must be able to perform tack welding in multiple positions
  • Must be reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently or as part of a team
