Job Summary
Install units, parts, equipment, and components in structural assembly according to drawings and specifications using hand and power tools. Replace worn aircraft body parts, flight control surfaces, fuel cells, and tanks, including cleaning and restoration, as well as pylon and windshield replacements. Follow strict dimension tolerances and FAA maintenance bulletins based on supplied engineering blueprints. Operate gas-based arc welding equipment, brazing tools, riveting tools, and other prescribed sheet metal maintenance tools. Remove dented or worn sheet metal and structural parts, then cut, trim, bend, and smooth them to ensure proper fit within tolerances. Interpret engineering blueprints, illustrations, and specifications to determine layouts, operation sequences, and part relationships. Requires FAA A&P certification, five years of experience, and a high school diploma or GED.
