Job Summary
Fit and assemble structural steel components including beams, columns, trusses, braces, and plate assemblies while reading shop drawings, fabrication prints, and weld symbols. Lay out, align, and secure structural components for welding and final assembly, verifying measurements and tolerances to ensure accurate fit-up. Operate fabrication tools and equipment such as grinders, torches, clamps, and measuring devices to maintain production schedules in a high-volume industrial environment. Inspect fit-up work for quality, alignment, and compliance, troubleshooting issues as needed while maintaining clean, safety-focused work areas. Follow all shop safety procedures and standards, ensuring precision and craftsmanship on large-scale industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of structural fitting experience in steel fabrication or heavy industrial environments
- Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and fit-up processes
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and weld symbols
- Experience fitting heavy structural steel accurately and efficiently
- Strong attention to detail, layout accuracy, and production quality
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced fabrication environments
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable, safety-focused, and accountable work ethic
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work on your feet for extended periods
- Ability to bend, kneel, climb, and work safely around fabrication equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in FCAW fabrication environments
- Overhead crane or forklift experience
- Experience supporting industrial, commercial, or mission critical projects
- OSHA 10 certification
