Job Summary
Layout weld points and fabricate, assemble, and install structural steel products for offshore drilling jackets and decks. Use industry tools to position components into jigs, clamp parts, tack-weld, grind, and bolt assemblies for welding. Examine workpieces for defects, operate cutting equipment and overhead cranes, and maintain a clean, safe work environment. Execute daily instructions to meet productivity goals while adhering to safety procedures. Requires valid license, 3-5 years experience, and ability to lift 50 lbs. Temp-to-hire position with weekly pay from $24.00 to $29.00.
Required Qualifications
- 3 - 5 years fitter work-related experience (Aluminum preferred)
- MUST have lay-out and fitting experience with misc. metal & structural steel
- MUST HAVE VALID LICENSE
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required
- MUST be able to pass physical
- MUST be able to pass drug screen
- MUST be able to pass background check
- MUST have reliable transportation
- MUST be able to provide own welding shield & PPE (Hard hat, steel toe boots, safety glasses, & gloves.)
- Must be able to read and understand blueprint drawings
- Excellent math skills with ability to efficiently read a tape measure
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrate strong work ethic
- Demonstrate consistency in quality of work
- Must be able to lift up to 50 LBS
- Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, squat, or kneel regularly, as well as climb stairs and ladders to complete tasks
- Ability to work in varying hot and cold environments
- Ability to work in cramped and/or confined spaces when required
- Ability to work in an environment with exposures to dust, dirt and various other debris, metal and paint fumes, gases
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions
- The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock
- Tasks beyond those listed above will be asked of you, so a positive, can-do attitude is required
