Job Summary
Lead and manage all structural engineering activities within the department, overseeing design, quality, and execution of industrial projects while ensuring compliance with professional standards and client requirements. Plan, organize, and delegate engineering assignments to staff, monitor project progress, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to the team. Perform Quality Control and Assurance reviews of contract documents, structural calculations, and technical specifications, stamping and sealing engineering documentation as needed. Participate in project planning, resource allocation, and proposal preparation to support business development initiatives. This role requires a PE license with 10-15+ years of experience in industrial manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or life sciences, including leadership of complex projects exceeding $40M. The position is onsite in Irvine, CA, with 25% travel, and offers a compensation range of $180-200K plus bonus.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil, Structural, or related Engineering discipline
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
- Project expertise spanning Industrial Manufacturing, Aerospace, Defense, Pharma / Life Sciences, &/or Food / Beverage
- 10-15+ years of structural engineering experience
- 2+ years of proven experience leading engineering teams and managing complex projects ($40M+)
- Strong understanding of structural design, engineering standards, and construction practice
- American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC)
- American Concrete Institute (ACI 318)
- International Building Code (IBC)
- ASCE 7
- Factory Mutual (FM)
- Structural analysis and design software
- Location: This role is onsite in Irvine, CA
- 25% travel (mostly SoCal / NV)
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally
- Ability to climb stairs when necessary
