Job Summary
Lead design engineering for new nuclear facilities and upgrades, guiding a team of structural engineers on projects involving steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations. Prepare, review, and provide guidance for design calculations, develop specifications, and work with designers for drawing development while interfacing directly with clients and engineers from other disciplines. Conduct onsite support at the Duane Arnold Energy Center, including travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement starting remote, transitioning to three days in-office. The Nuclear Power Group drives the future of clean energy through SMRs, advanced reactor technology, and commercial reactor restarts.
Required Qualifications
- BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Ten or more years of experience working as a member of a project team in the design and analysis of industrial / heavy commercial or nuclear facility structures
- Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS
- Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- PE or SE license
- Must be able to travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs
- Must be available for onsite support at the Duane Arnold Energy Center
- Must be available for a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend three days a week in the office and work remotely for two days
