Structural Engineer

Job Summary
Perform structural analysis and design for industrial and commercial steel structures in accordance with the National Building Code of Canada and CSA standards. Review, approve, and authenticate structural drawings for fabrication, shop, and field assembly while supporting estimating with member sizing and connection design. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable, providing technical support during fabrication and construction. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering standards and manufacturing processes. Own projects from concept through fabrication and field support to deliver safe, cost-effective solutions across Western Canada.
Required Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with APEGA
- Minimum 5 years of experience designing Canadian industrial and commercial structural steel buildings
- Strong knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada (NBC), CSA S16, CSA S136, CSA W59, and other applicable building codes and standards
- Experience using structural engineering software such as Graitec Advance Design, STAAD.Pro, S-Frame, or similar
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Practical, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and professional integrity
- Reliable transportation
Desired Qualifications
- Registration with APEGS and/or Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
- Experience using MBS
