Job Summary
Structural Engineer/Plan Examiner needed to independently manage projects from schematic design through construction, prepare engineering calculations, oversee construction documents, and coordinate structural designs with architects, engineers, building officials, and contractors. Responsibilities include plan examination and permit reviews for compliance with the Florida Building Code and applicable standards; identify defects and omissions and propose solutions; conduct site visits, review shop drawings, and ensure products meet original specifications; provide expert advice on the Florida Building Code and Miami-Dade County Code; evaluate alternate methods and materials for code compliance; lead a team, manage multiple tasks under deadlines, and clearly communicate technical information in writing and orally. Requires a licensed Professional Engineer in Florida or certification as Structural Plans Examiner with minimum five years of structural design experience in a consulting setting.
