Job Summary
Lead structural design for small to mid-sized buildings and contribute to larger, multifaceted projects across steel, concrete, wood, and masonry systems. Perform detailed analysis and prepare calculations, technical reports, and construction documentation including plans, sections, and details while collaborating with architects and MEP engineers. Oversee drawing reviews, conduct site visits for construction administration, and manage RFIs and submittals. Mentor junior engineers and interns on technical design and professional growth. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving codes, standards, and sustainable design practices. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, a Master's preferred, and an active California PE license.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution
- 5–7 years of experience in building structural design, focusing on steel, concrete, wood, and/or masonry systems
- Active California Professional Engineer (PE) license
- In-depth knowledge of California Building Code (CBC), ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, and related structural standards
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as ETABS, SAP, SAFE, RAM, RISA, and Enercalc
- Working knowledge of Revit (BIM environment)
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams, including architects and MEP engineers
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and review structural calculations, drawings, and specifications
- Hands-on experience with construction administration (site visits, RFIs, submittals)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective technical discussion and documentation
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative mindset and a commitment to mentoring and supporting junior team members
