Job Summary
Conduct structural analysis and inspection for heavy industrial sites including oil and gas facilities, power plants, and refineries. Prepare engineering drawings, technical specifications, and design documentation while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop cost estimates and reports. Perform fieldwork by visiting construction sites to observe activities and ensure compliance with design intent using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Advanced Steel. This hybrid role requires up to 30% travel and the ability to work in rough outdoor terrain with physical demands including lifting 50 pounds. Candidates must hold a PE license or ability to obtain one within a year and possess a valid driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a structural emphasis (including structural analysis and steel and concrete design)
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) certified or ability to obtain within one year
- Experience with AutoCAD, Excel, Revit, STAAD Pro, Advanced Steel, RISA 3D, or MathCAD
- Possession of a current, valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future
- Willingness to travel and periodically adjust personal schedule to meet project needs (up to 30% travel and fieldwork possible; project needs will vary)
- Ability to work in locations that may feature rough terrain typical of construction, manufacturing, and/or rural outdoor sites with limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities
- Ability to conduct fieldwork in varying outdoor conditions (e.g., heat, cold, rain, uneven terrain)
- Must be able to lift and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- Capable of standing, walking, kneeling, or crouching for extended periods
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by site conditions
Desired Qualifications
- 8+ years of related work experience
- Master's degree in civil or structural engineering
- Experience with 3D software such as Revit
- Strong technical skills in a wide range of structural analysis and design
- Experience in the consulting industry
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with teams of multiple disciplines
- Demonstrated project organization and management skills
