Job Summary
Develop design plans for new transportation structures and maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation of bridges, culverts, and retaining walls. Utilize CADD and engineering software to create detailed design plans, prepare structural calculations in compliance with standards, and perform structural analysis on existing projects. Assist with construction cost estimates and specifications while participating in field inspections of structures over and adjacent to roadways and water, including work at heights using ladders and motorized equipment. Requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering, 0-5 years of design experience, and willingness to obtain EIT certification. Salary range $72,000-$85,000.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from ABET accredited engineering program
- 0-5 years of design experience in structural engineering field
- The ability and motivation to obtain EIT certification in the first year of employment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with team members and project managers
- Willing to work in the field performing hands-on inspections of transportation structures
Desired Qualifications
- Relevant internship or co-op experience and/or college coursework
- EIT Certification
- Experience with project delivery of State Agency Transportation Department projects
- Experience with the design and analysis of transportation structures (bridges, culverts, retaining walls, ancillary structures)
- Knowledge of MicroStation
